Jagermeister MusicTour

After being picked up at BWI, we headed to downtown Baltimore. Since we were early we decided to walk around the inner harbor and ended up heading to the Maryland Science Center to check out Body World Part 2. It was very, very interesting to see the bodies. So surreal. I am unsure if I would donate my body for that purpose. We then walked around the science exhibits and played with the interactive stuff.

Afterwards we walked over to Fogo de Chao, that had just opened recently. The food was great. I really enjoyed the cheeses, asparagus, and fried polenta. Feeling so full we walked back to the car to leave our stuff before standing in line for the doors to open.

Once inside we did some shopping and then waited for the opening bands. The first was a local Baltimore band. They were okay. Then 3 Inches of Blood came on. They were great. I really enjoyed them.

Then it was Type O Negative! They were awesome. They played for over an hour and a half. They played Christian Woman and Black No 1., among many other great songs. It was exhilarating. Once they were done, we decided to leave early since Hatebreed was not on either of our radar and leaving early meant we were home by 12:30.

C U LaTour '08

Maria, Enrique, and I meet at Georg's place and we drove up to Baltimore together in one car. We stopped at the inner harbor for dinner at La Tasca, a great Spanish tapas restaurant. The service was slightly slow, but most of the food was great.

After many many tapas and a couple of pitchers of sangria, we walked to Rams Head Live, where Enrique kept saying that Hemlock was walking in front of us, and stood in line. And still stood in line. The doors opens almost 45 min behind schedule.

Once inside, Georg bought a Ministry shirt and Enrique bought a Meshuggah shirt. The first band was Hemlock. They were new to me, but I enjoyed them. And I have to say Enrique was correct. We did see them on the streets of Baltimore walking in the Inner Harbor area. Guys, next time we will say hi :)

Then Meshuggah came one. Wow they were awesome. I really enjoyed them. Then it was time for Ministry. They were so great. They opened loud and never stopped. They did one set and then took a quick break before coming back and having the lead singer of Fear Factory. It was great. They did two covers as their closing numbers, which kinda disappointed me, since this was a farewell tour, but they were so great!!!

Since there was no midnight curfew, Ministry played until almost 1:30, which means we showed up at Taco Bell at 1:55 for our late night munchies. We barely made it to the drive thru before they closed. Oh it was good...

Soil / Bobaflex

Jaxx

I meet Mike, Chris, and Karen and we all got into my Jeep and we carpooled up to Springfield, VA. Once we go there we found one of the opening bands was not playing so the door opening time has slide to the right. So we decided to walk across the street and find someplace to eat. We found a texmex restaurant. It was pretty good. I had a veggie omelet.

After watching some hoops, we walked back to Jaxx for the show. The first band was Mercy Forgotten. They were okay. Then came Autumn Offering, which is the band Mike and Chris came to watch. They were very good. I guess the person they knew was no longer with them, but they rocked none the less. Although turnout was low and it felt weird to be in the pit with 5 people.

Then came Bobaflex, which in my opinion were the best. They had catchy tunes and lyrics and I so wished I had bought their CD. Oh well. Soil closed out with a good show. And I think everyone had a good time.

Jill meet me at my house and then drove to meet Mike at BJs before picking up Didi at a park and ride along the way. We then drove up to Annapolis for dinner at the Lebanese Taverna where G and his friend A met us. After dinner we caravaned the two cars to Baltimore.

Once there we headed in and found a spot near the front. Mike's friend ended up meeting us there. So while Didi, A and G stayed near the back; Mike, his friend, Jill and I headed to the front to catch the show.

The first band was The Deadneks. They were fun, but we had to be mindful of the moshpit. There were not yet a lot of people so they could really get going. I do love the stand up bass. Then it was Steve E Nix and the Cute Lepers. I thought the two backup singers were kinda unneeded, but otherwise they were okay. The final opening band was the Pink Spiders. Also very enjoyable.

Finally it was time for the HorrorPops. The set was awesome. They played a lot of songs off the new album, including Thelma and Louise and Disco; my two favorites. They also played some great ones off the older albums. The two dancing girls were dressed up like goth brides. They played so well. It is so much fun to watch Patricia and Nekroman play. They come out for an encore and closed with Julia and Where They Wander.

Marilyn Manson

Rams Head Live

I met Maria and Enrique at their place, picked them up and I drove up to Baltimore. We stopped at Burger King in Annapolis along the way for dinner. When we arrived in Baltimore we picked up our tickets from will call and found G waiting in line. He was near the front. After waiting about 15 minutes we were let in. Woman on the left and men on the right. They were patting everyone down and not allowing a lot of items inside including carabiners and change. They let me in with the carrots I had in my purse, but with the agreement I would not throw them. As if!

When we got inside we went to our usual place behind the sound stage which has a really good view of the stage. About 8pm the opening band Ours came on. The band was good, but the lead vocalist was horrible. He sang in a really high voice and just seemed pitchy. Which is a shame because the music was kinda good. The lead singer pants were also super tight. It was just too much information.

Once the opening band left this huge curtain, with MM on it, came down and covered the stage so you could not see any of the preparations for Marilyn Manson. When he came on it was just amazing. He sang so good. He sang a few songs off his new album, Eat Me, Drink Me. They included Eat Me, Drink Me and Heart Shaped Glasses. He also played Beautiful People, Irresponsible Hate Anthem, and Tourniquet. He came out for an encore and closed the show with 1996. It was one of the best shows.
