9:30 Club, Washington, D.C.
It was G's big "30". So a group of us headed up to Washington D.C. for dinner at the Lebanese Taverna and then drove over to the 9:30 Club for Children Of Bodom. Once inside the club, we headed upstairs to the first balcony were we could see the entire stage. After Sanctity and Gojira, Amon Amarth came on and whipped up the crowd followed by COB. Because it was his birthday, G was bought plenty of Grey Goose vodka (1 litre) so that by the end of the night he might not remember the entire concert. I got him back to the car and drove him home.
Fear Factory
November 7, 2006
Jaxx, Springfield, VA.
G and I braved the rain and the "mixing bowl" of the Capitol Beltway and headed over the Potomac River to see Fear Factory at Jaxx. After a quick bite at the Chinese restaurant next door we headed in to the venue. After the first two bands, one of which was actually pretty good (Hypocrisy), we headed into the pit so that by Fear Factory's arrival on stage we were front and center. It was great. We were able to clearly see Raymond's feet drumming at lightning speed on the bass drums. Watching his feet move so quickly was spectacular. And Burton C. Bell was leaning over and sweating on us all night. G even got to sing along into the microphone. At least 70% of their set was from Soul Of A New Machine. Then 1 or two songs from each of the Albums in between and the rest was from Transgression. It was an amazing show.

Rancid
August 18, 2006
Black Cat, Washington, D.C.
G and I headed up to the Black Cat for Rancid. We got there a little early so we could eat at the restaurant on their property. It is a mostly vegetarian and vegan restaurant and was delicious. We then headed in and were able to make it to the very front of the stage, although it meant suffering through the opening bands, including the Heart Attacks, before Rancid took the stage. Tim Armstrong was great and the vibe was amazing. They even played 2 acoustic songs, Fall Back Down and Operation Ivy's Knowledge.

This concert was recorded and then sold online at jrae. We bought a copy to remember the show.

Warped Tour
June 15, 2006
Merriweather Post Pavilion, Columbia, MD.
G and I drove up to Merriweather Post Pavilion for the Warped Tour. We spent all day in the park, in the sun, and by the end of the day I just parked myself between the two main stages with the stuff and let G head into the pits without me. We saw some great bands including Helmet, NOFX, Bouncing Souls, The Casualties, Joan Jett, and Less Than Jake.
